The Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted a circulating Facebook post claiming that it arrested Evangelist Ukpo Daniel over a video alleging that Fulani herdsmen attacked a crusade in Agboda Village, Nasarawa State.
The Service made the denial in a statement issued in Abuja, by its Deputy Director on Public Relations and Strategic Communications, Favour Dozie,
It described the post as “false, misleading and calculated to cast the Service in bad light and stir public tension.”
“For the avoidance of doubt, Evangelist Ukpo Daniel was never invited nor arrested by the DSS,” the statement read.
The DSS further disclosed that the evangelist’s wife, Elizabeth, who originated the post, later confirmed that she was with him at the Police Headquarters in Lafia.
The Service warned that “such misrepresentations, capable of inflaming tension and disrupting ongoing operations, will be taken seriously.”
It advised members of the public “to rely on verified information and official communication channels.”
