The Delta State Police Command has arrested a suspected serial killer and prison escapee, as well as a pastor accused of defilement and rape, in two major breakthroughs.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the first arrest followed a report on October 24 that one Michael Ezenwai attempted to sell what was believed to be a stolen phone.
SP Edafe said operatives moved swiftly and apprehended the suspect, who initially claimed he brought the phone from Libya.
He explained that the case took a dramatic turn when the phone rang and the caller identified it as belonging to her sister, Christabel Egedefe.
“When our operatives visited the residence, they found the young lady dead in her apartment,” Edafe stated.
He added that Ezenwai later confessed to killing the 26-year-old during a robbery operation on October 23 because she resisted surrendering her motorcycle keys.
According to SP Edafe, preliminary investigation also revealed that the suspect was part of the syndicate that raped and murdered UNIBEN student Uwaila Omorzua in 2020, and that he escaped from Oko Correctional Centre during the EndSARS jailbreak.
The suspect is now in custody as investigations continue.
SP Edafe further disclosed that the command arrested one Pastor Daniel Ololo of Omega Prophetic Prayer Ministry, Sapele, following a petition accusing him of rape, defilement and sexual assault.
“Investigation showed that the suspect used fake prophecies to lure vulnerable church members and coerced them into sexual acts, claiming they needed such encounters for deliverance,” he said.
He revealed that the suspect allegedly had canal knowledge of three sisters, with the youngest aged 17.
Ololo is in custody as the investigation continues.
