The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed viral social media reports claiming an attempted assassination on Lt. Ahmed Yerima, describing the story as completely false and capable of inciting needless public panic.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, said no such incident was reported or recorded in any part of the FCT. She urged residents to disregard the circulating claims and refrain from sharing unverified security information.

“The Command categorically states that no such incident occurred within the Federal Capital Territory. Members of the public are advised to ignore this false information and avoid spreading rumours that could trigger unnecessary fear,” Adeh said.

She reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding residents and encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police division. Citizens can also reach the Command’s emergency response lines via 08032003913 or 08068587311.
