As Nigeria marks her 65th Independence Anniversary, former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu (OON), has urged citizens to use the moment to “renew our hope and rally around our leaders” in building a more united and prosperous nation.
‎
‎According to Elumelu, the occasion goes beyond mere celebration, stressing that “despite our challenges, Independence Day reminds us of the urgent call to rally together as one indivisible family, bound by democracy, the rule of law, freedom, equality, tolerance, and good governance.”
‎
‎He noted that anniversaries such as this provide leaders at all levels an opportunity for introspection on inclusiveness, accountability, and the prioritization of citizens’ welfare. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it reflects a deliberate focus on security, economic growth, and citizen empowerment.
‎
‎“As forward-looking people, we must leverage the gains of the current administration to consolidate our national potentials, achieve food security, industrialization, and empower our exceptionally talented youths,” Elumelu said.
‎
‎The former lawmaker also hailed Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as a “development-driven stewardship that is steadily building a peaceful and prosperous Delta State.”
‎
‎While congratulating Nigerians, Elumelu prayed for God’s continued protection and guidance for the country. “I heartily felicitate President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, and indeed all Nigerians, as we march towards the Nigeria of our dream.”
