Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos, Tunji Disu, has rewarded officers for assisting a pregnant woman in labour and her husband to a hospital in Obalende.
The incident occurred last Friday after the officers accosted a man who looked distressed in Ikoyi while they were on patrol.

Tweeting an update to the incident on Thursday, the RRS said Mr. Disu rewarded the officers and “encouraged them to continue being worthy ambassadors of the NPF (Nigeria Police Force) and also urged others to emulate the gesture which is also their primary responsibility.”

About 3:00 a.m on Friday our officers in Ikoyi came across a man in distress. We accosted him and he told us his wife was in labour at home but he had no means of getting her to the hospital. He got into our vehicle and was rushed down to his home.

The officers later that Friday went back to the couple’s residence and found that the woman had been delivered of a baby girl.

Lagos State is currently under lockdown following the 14-day extension by President Muhammadu Buhari to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
