The newly appointed Consultant to Delta State Local Content Agency, Sir Laurence Izegbu today visited the Warri Refinery and some oil producing companies in Warri.
Izegbu was on a familiarisation tour following his new position.
During the tour he issued warning to oil companies to ensure they comply with the Delta State Local Content laws especially in the areas of Employment, contract award and skills transfer.
“You must always provide your expatriate quota and B2B documents as violation of Local content Law would be frowned upon.” Izegbu warns foreigners handling major contracts inside Warri Refinery.
His new role empowers him as a top compliance executive who would now ensure the agency is in compliance with its outside regulatory and legal requirements as well as internal policies and bylaws.
The technocrat hinted that compliance by all companies in the state would ensure a win win gain for all stakeholders.
His new role as a consultant would involve his expertise in the area of compliance, monitoring, conflict resolution and training.
According to him, “We are out to ensure every aspect about the state’s Local content policy law are complied with. If the oil producing and servicing companies play their part, the state local content agency would play their own part and our people would be happier for it.
“There is dire need to ensure that our people are well empowered to take on artisan and tradesmen job.We are here to ensure companies in Delta State adhere to state Local content policy, values and ethical standards.
“Our primary task is to ensure that oil-producing and servicing companies operating in Delta State maintain an indigenous workforce of at least 70%, while also utilizing indigenous contractors and local raw materials for their processing.”
