A serial rapist, one Nkeosenyem Ifeanyi from Ugbodu community in Aniocha North LGA of Delta State, has confessed to defiling his niece, a 15-year-old Nkechi, blaming evil spirit for being responsible for his ordeal.
He made this confession while being paraded by Delta State Police Command where about 182 criminal suspects were paraded .
The suspect admitted to committing the crime on the victim’s parent’s matrimonial bed, claiming he only fingered the young girl and released on the bed before realising his evil act.
He said he had ever since regretted his behaviour and even planned to commit suicide if not for the wife’s resistance.
He said the act took place on April 15 , 2020 and that he reported himself to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Issele-Uku without being arrested by anybody.
On the alleged claim that one Prof. Nduka wanted the matter to be settled at the family level without involving the police, the culprit debunked that, saying that there was never a time Prof. Nduka intervened on his behalf. He said he never saw Professor for over a week before the incident and that he never got involved to plead for him not to be arrested.
While still lamenting his behaviour, Nkeosenyem claimed he only fingered the sick girl who hugged to greet him as an uncle and then released on the parents bed while the act lasted.
Perhaps, the police investigation did ascertain that there was penetration according to the medical report.
The culprit also claimed he had never been a serial rapist, blaming his political detractors for taking advantage of his travail to cast aspersions on him because of Ugbodu Youth Association and Ugbodu Development Union’s elections. He denied ever raping anyone at Issele-Uku, Idumuje-Unor or even Ugbodu before the present case.
The Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa specifically condemned child defilement, child molestation, sexual assaults and rapes, declaring that such culprits would be dealt with like animals they had claimed to be.
He vowed to deal decisively with any criminal who indulges in causing havoc to the society.
