The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State, (Health Monitoring), and member, Covid-19 lockdown enforcement committee, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has enjoined Christians in the State to observe this year’s Easter celebration in accordance with the exigencies of the time.

He maintained that the global Covid-19 pandemic, has made it necessary for Christians to comply with the measures put in place by the government to contain the outbreak in the state in order to ensure safety against the deadly virus.

Dr. Nwoko, in a statement released through his media aides, stated, ‘I want to use this medium to felicitate with my Christian brothers and sisters throughout the State. As we mark the anniversary of the resurrection of our lord and saviour, Jesus Christ, it has become necessary that we observe it in accordance with the exigency of the time’.

‘The outbreak of Covid-19 across the globe have necessitated the issuance of safety precautionary measures by both the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC). The grave nature of the pandemic disease, has also prompted Delta State Government to implement the lockdown order to contain the spread of the virus. As painful as these measures are hurting to our daily life, they are necessary to project us against this highly contagious monstrous coronavirus’.

‘As we mark this years cerebration, I want to encourage us to continue to observe social distancing, avoid neighborhood clustering, partying and celebrate it in a low key while praying for God’s intervention to end the pandemic. Through our cooperation with Government and by the grace of God, we will overcome Covid-19 and be alive to mark next years celebration in grandiose way’.

Once again, I wish you happy Easter celebration.’ He concluded.
