The community newspaper and magazine sub sector of journalism in Nigeria is yet to fully unfold to its full potential but one publication that has stood out over the years is ANIOMA Trends Magazine with its print and online versions.
Targeting the elites of Aniocha, Oshimili, Ika and Ndokwa local governments areas of Delta state. The focus in its current February 2024 edition is on their professional elites drawn from all sectors of life:banking, business, management, journalism, law, other professions, sports, government, hospitality, especially, entrepreneurship.
The 24-page A4 size magazine is sure to inspire the youth of the area to aspire to greater success. As is to be expected, house hold names like Tony Elumelu, Jim Ovia, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, Gabriel (RainOil) Ogbechie , Benjamin (Aiteo )Peters and Dr Ifeanyi Okowa and Senator Ned Nwoko easily make the list of nominees for their philanthropic activities. Silent Hero, Odita Sunday-Udemaguna also made the list as well as accomplished gurus like Chief Phillip Asiodu, Chief John Edozien, Chief Henry Okolo and Jonathan (Orchid Hotels) Odega were also nominated. Top lady Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and football maestro JJ Okocha are also paid due tributes.
All in all, the people of Anioma should be proud of this effort and seek to achieve more for themselves and Nigeria at large. Royal fathers from the area get a special focus at the centre page.
