Nigerian Air Force Officers Wives Association (NAFOWA) on Tuesday appreciated their spouses for their dedication to national service as well commitment to family.
The officers were honoured at the NAFOWA Talk and Dinner hosted to commemorate Men’s Health Awareness Month.
Delivering a welcome speech at the event, wife of the Chief of Air Staff, and National President of NAFOWA, Dr. (Mrs) Rakiya Abubakar lauded officers, airmen and airwomen for their uncommon commitment to their homes, despite the daunting task of keeping a family.
According to her, “The event is uniquely organized to, on one hand, appreciate and honour our servicemen for their dedication to duty as well as their continous efforts in providing for their families.
“On the other hand, it is a reminder and an awareness campaign to our servicemen to prioritize their health by observing routine check up, regular exercise and maintaining good diet.
“Internationally, Men’s Health Awareness Month is observed in November annually to raise awareness on men’s health.
“NAFOWA as an organization, values the resilience of men and particularly the hardwork of responsible men, who despite economic challenges and stress, put more effort to provide basic necessities for their families.
“Furthermore, our commitment to provide the needed emotional support to our beloved servicemen gave birth to this initiative of bringing everyone to a more relaxed environment to unwine and remind you of our love and support to you all.
“Also, we have invited an experienced resource person to provide on how to prioritize our health and educate us on some medical tips especially as it affects men.
“It is on this note, I want to appreciate and welcome, once again, our Special Guest of Honour, senior officers and their spouses, officers and airmen to this beautiful gathering.”
The event was attended by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar.
