Diligent Police detectives attached to the ACP Soji Akinbayo-led Area ‘B’ Command Headquarters, Apapa Lagos, have busted a notorious syndicate that specialized in generating fake bank alerts to purchase bulk goods and arrested three members of the gang. The suspects identified as Messrs Alabi Daudu, Ikhile Ezekiel and Peter Ethomol reports say, had gone to Olam Sanyo Foods Ltd, producer of Cheries Noodles valued at N8.850,000.00 (Eight million, eight hundred and fifty thousand naira only) and disappeared into thin air. But sources said detectives led by the Area Commander himself promptly swung into action upon receipt of the theft case, tracked the suspects to their various hideouts and got them arrested.
CrimeWorld learnt that at the end of the rigorous investigation headed by Police Inspector Zakari Suliaman which lasted for weeks, the suspects were arraigned at the Apapa Randle Magistrate Court 1 sitting before Chief Magistrate Shomade on a five count charge of obtaining goods by false pretences. The Prosecuting Police officer, Inspector Ester had told the court that the trio and others presently at large committed the offence sometime in June 2020; adding that the offence contravenes section 319 of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2015.
Count 1 reads: That you Alabi Daudu, Ekhile Ezekile and Peter Ethomol, all males and others at large during the month of June 2020 at Apapa in the Apapa Magisterial District with intent to defraud; conspired amongst your selves to commit felony to wit: Obtaining goods by false pretences and thereby committed offence contrary to section 411 and punishable under section 314 of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2015
However, when the charges were read to the accused, they pleaded not guilty and were granted bail in the sum of N3m each and evidence of two years tax payment while the matter had been adjourned to August 10, 2020.
