The Anambra State Police Command has announced strengthened security measures across schools and churches as part of a proactive strategy to secure learning and worship centres statewide.
Confirming the development, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, commended residents for what he described as “a growing unity of safety consciousness”. According to him, “Ndi Anambra have continued to show remarkable cooperation and vigilance, and this has greatly boosted the Command’s peace and security efforts.”
Ikenga explained that the CP has issued fresh directives to Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders. “The Commissioner has ordered intensified patrols, enhanced intelligence-driven operations, and strengthened collaboration with community stakeholders to ensure seamless security coordination,” he stated.
He added that the revised strategy reflects the Command’s commitment to staying ahead of threats. “Our security plan for schools and churches is preventive and proactive. The CP wants every pupil, teacher, worshipper, and clergy to feel safe across the State,” SP Ikenga noted.
Reaffirming the Command’s priority, Ikenga said: “The Police in Anambra remain unwavering in the protection of lives and property. The Commissioner assures the public that we will continue to adapt and upgrade our strategies to meet emerging challenges while sustaining the peace the State currently enjoys.”
