The Lagos State Police Command has debunked media claims that the Commissioner of Police disobeyed a court order regarding the Nestoil premises, insisting that the allegation is completely false.
‎
‎Speaking on the development, SP Abimbola Adebisi, Police Public Relations Officer, said the report is “untrue, unfounded and mischievously crafted to mislead the public.” He stressed that the Lagos Commissioner of Police remains fully committed to upholding the law. “The CP respects court orders in all circumstances and will never engage in any act, overtly or covertly, that undermines judicial directives,” Adebisi said.
‎
‎He clarified that the Command received the court order at about 1750hrs on 20th November 2025. “Immediately the order was received, it was forwarded to the Police Legal Department for verification with the issuing court. Once authenticity was confirmed on the 21st of November, all Police personnel were withdrawn from the premises without delay,” the PPRO explained.
‎
‎Reacting to the media claims that the Commissioner defied the order, Adebisi described the story as “shocking and misleading.” He added: “For the avoidance of doubt, the Commissioner never visited the Nestoil premises on the 20th or 21st of November. The Police merely provided protection to the Court Sheriff as required by law. At no time did we obstruct the enforcement process.”
‎
‎He further warned those attempting to drag the Police into the dispute. “The Police have no power to seal any premises, including that of Nestoil. Our role is strictly to protect the Sheriff or any authorised officer during lawful enforcement. Mischief-makers should stop misleading the public,” he stated.
‎
‎Adebisi urged the public to disregard the allegations entirely. “The narrative being pushed by Nestoil is false, unguided and a misrepresentation of facts. The Commissioner of Police derives his authority from the law and will never disobey a court order,” he said.
‎
‎He reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to the rule of law. “The Lagos Police Command will continue to uphold all judicial directives and ensure that every police action aligns with due legal process,” Adebisi assured.
