Spread the love

In a moving display of brotherhood and shared purpose, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, hosted members of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) 41 Regular Combatant Course Alumni Association at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.

What began as a reunion of old comrades quickly evolved into a renewed call for collective national service, as the Army Chief urged his coursemates to remain active partners in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.

Lt Gen Shaibu, who described his coursemates as “an integral part of my success journey,” reflected on the unbreakable bond formed during their formative years at the Academy. “The friendship and discipline we built decades ago continue to guide our service to this nation,” he said. “We are one family bound by duty, honour, and love for country. Together, we can make Nigeria safer, stronger, and more united.”

The COAS noted that many of his colleagues have been quietly supporting his vision since his appointment, offering valuable insights and field intelligence toward achieving peace and stability across the country. He encouraged them to remain his “eyes and ears” in the field, assuring that his command remains open to ideas that advance the collective mission of securing Nigeria.

Earlier, the President of the 41 Regular Combatant Course Alumni Association, Major Lancelot Anyanya (Rtd), led the delegation in congratulating the COAS on his appointment as the 25th Army Chief. He praised Lt Gen Shaibu’s exemplary rise through the ranks, describing him as “a friend, brother, and leader whose professionalism and humility continue to inspire confidence in the military.”

Major Anyanya recalled their shared experiences at the NDA, noting that even then, Lt Gen Shaibu stood out for his discipline and leadership, serving as Academy Cadet Adjutant. “His appointment has brought pride to every member of our course it’s a testament to hard work, integrity, and divine favour,” he said.

The delegation also extended warm wishes to Mrs Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, National President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), commending her role in fostering welfare and unity within military families.

The reunion ended on a high note, with laughter, reflection, and a renewed commitment among the 41 Regular Course members to continue serving Nigeria not just as soldiers of the past, but as patriots of the present.
