In a stunning political upset that defied predictions and the weight of federal influence, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has secured a resounding victory in the November 8, 2025 Anambra Governorship Election, crushing his closest rival from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Announcing the results on Saturday in Awka, the Returning Officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Edoba Omoregie, declared Soludo the duly elected governor after polling an overwhelming 422,664 votes, far ahead of APC’s Nicholas Ukachukwu, who garnered 99,445 votes.

The victory, described by observers as a political landslide, has effectively dashed the hopes of the APC to take over Anambra State despite the influence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and recent waves of defections that had fueled expectations of a stronger showing.

The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, finished a distant third with 37,753 votes.

The outcome underscores Soludo’s enduring grassroots appeal and APGA’s stronghold in the state, reinforcing its image as the “last man standing” of regional political dominance in the Southeast.
