In a major breakthrough that has drawn public attention across Lagos State, operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, have arrested a serial commercial taxi driver, Adedayo Ben Adegbola, whose picture recently went viral online following multiple reports of rape, defilement, assault, and armed robbery against female passengers.
Acting on the firm directives of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundaire Jimoh, the crack team of detectives launched a discreet and painstaking investigation that led to Adegbola’s arrest on October 31, 2025, at about 9:40 a.m. The suspect was apprehended alongside his operational vehicle a red Toyota Corolla with registration number JJJ 226 HT which was allegedly used in perpetrating the series of violent crimes across different parts of Lagos.
According to the Command, the suspect has been positively identified by several victims, some of whom had earlier shared his image online in desperate pleas for justice. The Police have secured the recovered vehicle as evidence while investigations continue to track down other accomplices believed to have worked with the suspect.
The Lagos State Police Command has also urged victims of the suspect’s attacks to come forward to the State CID, Panti, to provide additional information and evidence. The Command assured that all victims’ identities will be treated with utmost confidentiality.
Reiterating his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on gender-based violence, CP Olohundaire Jimoh reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice for all survivors and maintaining public safety across the State.
