The Police Service Commission (PSC) has assured that it will investigate allegations of bribery leveled against Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Emmanuel Aina by a group of protesters who besieged its Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Wednesday.
‎
‎The protesters, who carried placards and operated under the aegis of the Centre for Human Rights and Advocacy in Africa Network (CHRAAN), demanded a thorough probe of AIG Aina, whom they accused of abuse of office.
‎
‎In a statement signed by the Head, Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission said it would “look into the complaints and ensure that justice is served to both parties.”
‎
‎ “The Commission insists that it will continue to hold the Police accountable for its actions and inactions but enjoins Nigerians to also give the Police the required support and cooperation to give off its best,” Ani stated.
‎
‎He further disclosed that the Commission had already launched a whistle-blowing policy and encouraged citizens to report any act of official corruption within the Commission or institutions under its oversight.
‎
‎“Nigerians should feel free to blow the whistle on official corruption in our activities and in the institutions we supervise,” he added.
