The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned three suspects before the Special Court sitting in Awka over alleged offences bordering on unnatural acts, contrary to provisions of the Criminal Code Act.
The suspects — Chizitem Nwankwo (20), Uche Paul (36), and Chinedu Maduekwe (40) — were remanded in a correctional facility pending further proceedings.
Their arraignment followed a painstaking investigation carried out by detectives of the Command, after credible intelligence and evidence were gathered. The case file, according to police sources, was subsequently reviewed by the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP), which issued legal advice recommending their prosecution.
Reaffirming the Command’s zero tolerance for crime, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, minps, PhD, assured that the Anambra Police Command remains resolute in ensuring that every case is handled in accordance with the law.
“The Command is unwavering in its commitment to justice. Every criminal act will be thoroughly investigated, and offenders will face the full wrath of the law,” CP Orutugu stated.
He further urged members of the public to continue providing credible information that would assist the Police in maintaining peace, order, and safety across the state.
