Delta State took a bold step toward strengthening peace and security on Wednesday as Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori officially launched the Delta State Trust Fund, a strategic initiative designed to enhance the state’s stability and attract more investment.
The launch ceremony, held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Asaba, drew a distinguished audience of industry leaders, top government officials, security chiefs, and political figures from within and outside the state.
Among the notable attendees was the immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, OON, who commended Governor Oborevwori for his proactive leadership and promptly donated ₦20 million to the newly established Trust Fund.
Speaking with journalists after the event, Elumelu described the initiative as a “commendable and forward-thinking move” by the governor, noting that security is a shared responsibility of all citizens, not just the government.
“The governor’s commitment to peace and security has inspired confidence among investors, which is evident in the growing economic activities across Delta State,” Elumelu said.
He applauded individuals and organizations who have already contributed to the fund, assuring that he remains committed to supporting efforts that sustain peace and protect lives and property in the state.
Elumelu also took a moment to recognize the efforts of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies for their ongoing fight against criminal activities. He urged them to remain steadfast in their resolve to maintain the peace that Delta State currently enjoys.
Elumelu’s continued support for security initiatives in Delta State has been one of his defining contributions during his tenure as Minority Leader of the 9th House of Representatives.
