In a strong show of confidence, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has hailed President Bola Tinubu’s economic leadership, following new validations from the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) affirming Nigeria’s robust growth trajectory.
The ruling party described the international endorsements as a “resounding vote of confidence” in the administration’s bold economic reforms, which it says have positioned Nigeria on the path to unprecedented prosperity and sustainable development.
According to the APC, President Tinubu’s policies are transforming Nigeria’s economy from one dependent on oil to a diversified and resilient system driven by local production, innovation, and inclusive growth. The party cited recent data showing that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.23% in Q2 2025—surpassing the IMF’s earlier forecast of 3.4%.
In recognition of this progress, the IMF upgraded its growth outlook for Nigeria to 3.9% in 2025 and 4.2% in 2026, while the World Bank projected further expansion to 4.4% by 2027, spurred by gains in services, agriculture, and manufacturing sectors.
“These figures are not just numbers, they are proof that President Tinubu’s economic blueprint is working,” APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka (CON), stated. “Against a backdrop of slowing global growth, Nigeria is emerging as a standout performer and a beacon of resilience.”
Despite ongoing challenges such as food inflation and poverty, the party emphasized that the administration’s social protection programs and agricultural productivity initiatives are laying the foundation for long-term relief and inclusivity.
The APC further highlighted milestones including:
A 44.3% rise in trade surplus in Q2 2025 (₦7.46 trillion).
A 40.5% increase in non-oil revenue (₦20.59 trillion between January-August 2025).
The Nigerian Customs surpassing its revenue target with ₦3.68 trillion collected.
A record ₦2 trillion monthly FAAC allocation across all levels of government.
The party credited these gains to fiscal discipline, harmonization of the exchange rate, transparency in NNPC remittances, and the end of Ways and Means financing all contributing to naira stability and moderating inflation now pegged at 20.1%.
With a reported $300 billion foreign investment pledge from Qatari investors, APC expressed optimism that Nigeria will exceed growth projections before 2027.
In a swipe at opposition parties, the APC said, “While detractors engage in baseless criticisms, President Tinubu remains laser-focused on building a stronger and more prosperous nation for all.”
The statement concluded with a rallying call:
“We urge Nigerians to stand firm with President Tinubu and the APC in this journey of renewed hope and national renewal. Today, our nation stands tall poised for peace, prosperity, and progress.”
