The Kano State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its sustained fight against armed robbery, rounding up nine suspected members of a robbery syndicate across Kano and Kaduna States.
Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday at the Bompai Police Headquarters.
“Acting on the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, our men moved swiftly and arrested nine suspects involved in several armed robbery operations,” Bakori stated.
He said the arrests followed an incident at Unguwar Wambai, Dorayi Babba Quarters, where the gang attacked a residence and made away with ₦3.7 million, a Toyota Yaris, and other valuables, while injuring a victim.
Recovered exhibits include two pistols, one double-barrel gun, 18 cartridges, cutlasses, knives, and a red Toyota Corolla vehicle.
“All suspects have confessed to their crimes and will be charged to court upon completion of investigations,” the CP said.
“Our community-based initiative, Operation Kukan Kura, has drastically reduced crimes like phone snatching and thuggery across the State.”
Bakori commended the operatives for their bravery and urged residents to continue providing actionable intelligence.
