The Federal Government has unveiled the Nigeria Agricultural Intelligence Platform (NAIP) — a bold digital transformation roadmap designed to revolutionize agricultural practice through artificial intelligence, data, and innovation.
‎
‎The initiative, driven by the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN) in partnership with PIXELS Solutions Limited and backed by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), seeks to make agriculture smarter, more productive, and youth-focused.
‎
‎Speaking at the official launch in Abuja, the Executive Secretary of ARCN, Dr. Adamu Abubakar Dabban, described NAIP as “a visionary leap from subsistence to sustainability.”
‎
‎“For too long, Nigerian farmers have depended on rainfall instead of reliable irrigation, and have faced limited access to quality inputs. Through NAIP, we are changing this narrative with a technology-driven, people-centred approach,” he said.
‎
‎Dr. Dabban highlighted NAIP’s goals to connect farmers, researchers, and policymakers through digital knowledge hubs, provide AI-powered advisory services, and deploy e-extension systems nationwide.
‎
‎“This platform gives farmers the power of information, enables researchers to collaborate, and opens new frontiers for our youth,” he added.
‎
‎In his remarks, the Honourable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, reaffirmed the government’s full commitment to digital agriculture, describing the platform as “a timely innovation aligned with the National Agricultural Technology and Innovation Policy (NATIP).”
‎
‎“To unlock agriculture’s full potential, we must embrace innovation and technology. NAIP is a major step in that direction,” he said.
‎
‎He noted that NAIP will complement existing government initiatives such as the National Agricultural Growth Scheme (NAGS-AP), fertilizer quality programmes, and e-extension services, enhancing food security and creating jobs.
‎
‎The Minister formally declared the event open, commending ARCN’s leadership for translating policy into tangible progress.
