In a swift and decisive operation, the Anambra State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim just seven hours after his abduction, frustrating the plans of criminals who had demanded a ₦10 million ransom.

The daring rescue took place on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, following a coordinated operation by the Command’s Tactical Team at the Oba/Ojoto axis. The victim had earlier been seized by armed men at Umuru Village, Nnobi, with the kidnappers demanding a ransom of ₦10 million.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Joint Tactical Teams launched an aggressive search operation in the area. Overwhelmed by the pressure, the kidnappers abandoned the victim and fled into the surrounding bushes. The victim was later rescued unharmed, debriefed, and safely reunited with his family.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development, adding that operatives are trailing leads to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

Commending the swift response, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, praised the tactical teams for their professionalism and reassured residents of Anambra that the Command remains steadfast in its mission to combat crime and safeguard lives and property.
