The Nigerian Navy has officially opened applications for its Basic Training School (BTS) Batch 38 recruitment exercise, offering Nigerians the chance to build a career in naval service. The application window runs from October 2 to October 31, 2025, while the recruitment examination has been scheduled for November 29, 2025, at designated centres nationwide.
In a statement signed by Commodore A. Adams-Aliu, Director of Information (DINFO), the Navy emphasized that the exercise is free of charge and applications must be submitted online via the official portal: www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng.
The Navy explained that applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN). It added that candidates with SSCE, GCE, NECO, or NABTEB qualifications should be between 18 and 22 years of age by December 31, 2025, while those with NCE, OND, Registered Nurse/Midwife certificates, as well as drivers, mechanics, and sportsmen/sportswomen, should fall within the 18 to 26 years bracket by the same date.
According to the statement, all candidates are required to have at least five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB. It stressed that certificates older than 2015 would not be accepted.
The Navy also disclosed that male applicants must not be less than 1.69 meters tall, while female applicants must measure at least 1.65 meters. It maintained that only single candidates, who are medically, physically, and psychologically fit and free from tattoos, disabilities, or criminal convictions, would be considered.
On additional requirements, the Navy stated that candidates must appear with Attestation Forms duly signed and bearing the passport photograph of the signer, along with a valid form of identification such as a Driver’s License, International Passport, or National ID Card.
It further explained that applicants for professional roles like Medical Assistants and Nurses are expected to provide proof of registration with their professional bodies, while those in technical trades such as tailoring, plumbing, carpentry, welding, and electrical work must present valid Trade Test certificates alongside academic qualifications.
The statement added that sportsmen and women must show evidence of their achievements, including medals and certificates.
The Navy warned applicants against multiple entries, noting that such actions would lead to automatic disqualification.
It also advised candidates to direct all inquiries strictly through the official communication channels provided on the recruitment portal.
“The Nigerian Navy calls on dedicated and qualified Nigerians to take up the challenge of defending our nation’s waters with honour, courage, and commitment,” the statement concluded.
