The School of Nursing Sciences at the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, Onicha-Uku, has secured full programme approval and recognition from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) — a landmark milestone credited to the relentless support of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, immediate past Minority Leader of the House of Representatives.
Former Medical Director of FMC Asaba, Dr. Azubuike Osiatuma, explained the painstaking process and hailed Elumelu’s role.
“Our message to Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu is that of gratitude. He has shown that he has a large heart. He is somebody who truly loves our people,” Osiatuma said.
He added that Elumelu provided equipment, structures, and scholarships critical to meeting NBTE requirements. With accreditation now secured, the school can award National Diplomas in Nursing and Midwifery, and Higher National Diplomas in Post Basic Neonatal Nursing.
“Presently, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu is pushing for more hostels through the NDDC, and NDDC has just approved a 50-room, two-storey building… all through the efforts of Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu,” Osiatuma noted.
He stressed that the achievement is for all of Aniocha/Oshimili, Anioma, and Delta State, not Onicha-Uku alone.
“The school is not for Onicha-Uku alone, it is for the whole of the people of Aniocha Oshimili, Anioma and Delta State as a whole,” he said, urging continued appreciation of Elumelu’s contributions.
