President Bola Tinubu on Friday declared that Nigeria’s economy has “turned the corner,” assuring citizens that there is now “light at the end of the tunnel.”
‎
‎The President spoke in Ibadan, Oyo State, during the coronation of his ally, Imperial Majesty Oba (Sen) Abdul-Rashidi Adewolu Akanmu Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.
‎
‎“Today, I am honoured to bring the cheering news that our economy has turned around and there is now light at the end of the tunnel,” Tinubu told the jubilant crowd, stressing that his administration’s reforms have begun to yield results.
‎
‎He thanked Nigerians for their patience and sacrifices, noting that the gains of the reforms would soon be felt more tangibly.
‎
‎President Tinubu praised the new Olubadan as a resilient leader who survived an illegal impeachment and remained a “pillar of democracy and perseverance.”
‎
‎Governor Seyi Makinde, who presented the staff of office, said Oba Ladoja’s coronation has ended longstanding disputes over the Ibadan kingship. “There is no more rancour about the throne. This means the process is now sacrosanct,” he stated.
‎
‎In his acceptance, Oba Ladoja expressed gratitude to God and to President Tinubu, noting that his ascension was “not by power, influence, or money, but destiny fulfilled.”
‎
‎“I accept not just the paraphernalia of office but also the responsibilities attached to it. I appreciate God for taking me to the finishing line from the starting point as Mogaji of the Arusa family in 1992 till date,” the monarch declared.
‎
‎The event was graced by former and serving governors, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from across the country.
