‎The Military Pension Board (MPB) has issued a strong disclaimer over the circulation of a fake WhatsApp group falsely linked to the board.
‎
‎In a press release signed by its Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed, the board alerted pensioners and the general public that it has not created any WhatsApp group to engage with veterans or disseminate information.
‎
‎“The attention of the Military Pension Board (MPB) has been drawn to the circulation of a fake WhatsApp group titled ‘Military Pension Board’ created by unknown individuals and falsely presented as an official platform of the board,” the statement read.
‎
‎The board stressed that its communications are strictly channeled through official means, including verified social media handles, press releases, and recognized contact lines.
‎
‎“For the avoidance of doubt, the Military Pension Board has not opened any official WhatsApp group for pensioners or veterans. Any such group using the MPB logo to pass information or make requests is fraudulent and does not represent the position of the board,” Squadron Leader Mohammed stated.
‎
‎The board reassured military pensioners that their welfare remains its top priority and urged them to remain vigilant against impersonators.
‎
‎“We advise all pensioners and members of the public to disregard such false groups and to always seek clarification through official MPB contacts whenever in doubt,” the statement added.
‎
‎The Military Pension Board also reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and continuous engagement with veterans, noting that safeguarding pensioners from fraud and misinformation is part of its mandate.
