In a dramatic late-night operation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has rescued three children from a violent domestic ordeal and arrested their 45-year-old father, identified as Mr. David Tersoo, who was found armed with a pump-action gun.
‎
‎The incident occurred on September 9, 2025, following a distress call about a brutal assault on an eight-year-old girl, her three-year-old sister, and their mother, who was forced out of the house with her nine-month-old baby in the dead of night.
‎
‎Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, wasted no time in deploying the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Mpape Division and operatives of the Command’s Gender Unit. In collaboration with the Ministry of Women Affairs, the police swiftly rescued the children—one of whom bore visible bruises. Their mother was later traced and reunited with them in protective custody.
‎
‎“We will never stand idly by while innocent children are subjected to such cruelty.
‎
‎“This Command remains resolute in defending the vulnerable and ensuring perpetrators face the full wrath of the law,” declared the FCT Commissioner of Police.
‎
‎According to police sources, the suspect, a contractor with a history of domestic abuse, locked himself behind a bulletproof door while armed. After hours of negotiation and tactical maneuvering, officers subdued him without casualties.
‎
‎A pump-action firearm, white powder, and other suspected illicit substances were recovered from his possession. The suspect has since been taken in for drug testing as investigations intensify.
‎
‎Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, praised residents whose vigilance helped avert tragedy.
‎
‎ “The swift alert by concerned neighbors was critical to saving lives,” Adeh said.
‎“We encourage every victim or witness of domestic violence to speak out. The Police are here to protect, and justice will be served.”
‎
‎The Command commended the Ministry of Women Affairs for its role in providing immediate shelter and support for the survivors. Authorities stressed that the case serves as a wake-up call for communities to be proactive in reporting domestic violence.
‎
‎Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged accordingly.
