The Taraba State Government has pledged adequate support and effective collaboration with Radio Nigeria, Gift FM Jalingo, as part of efforts to strengthen objective and developmental broadcasting in the state.
Governor Agbu Kefas, represented by his Senior Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Mr. Emmanuel Bello, gave the assurance during a special familiarisation and inspection tour of the station in Jalingo.
Bello, a veteran journalist himself, applauded the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) under the leadership of its Director-General, Dr. Mohammed Bulama, for appointing an indigene of the state, Mr. Emmanuel Jimmy Ejim, as the new General Manager of Gift FM.
He expressed confidence that the station would benefit from the people-oriented policies and programmes of the Kefas-led administration, urging staff to cooperate fully with Ejim to reposition the station for greater productivity.
“The state government is ever ready to give Gift FM the assistance it requires. With full cooperation from staff and management, the station will rise to greater heights,” Bello assured.
In his response, the new General Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Jimmy Ejim, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and called for maximum cooperation from staff to achieve the station’s mandate. He also commended the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for its support to FRCN stations in the region.
Earlier, the outgoing Acting Manager and Head of Engineering, Mr. Joshua Tekidek, led Ejim and guests on a tour of the station’s facilities.
Also speaking, a Prince of the Muri Emirate Council, Aliyu Hussaini Mafindi, who is a close associate of the new GM, urged staff to remain proactive and committed in the discharge of their duties.
The visit ended on a warm note, with management and staff of Gift FM pledging their support and cooperation to the new leadership.
