In a daring encounter, troops of 3 Division/Joint Task Force Operation ENDURING PEACE have neutralised an armed militia who attempted to disarm a soldier during an operation in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of the Task Force, the militia had earlier been arrested on 4 September 2025 at Kaskra in Barkin Ladi with one AK-47 rifle and 11 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. During interrogation, he confessed to taking part in multiple criminal activities in the area and even volunteered to lead troops to his gang’s hideout to recover more weapons.
However, events took a dramatic turn on 5 September when the suspect, in a desperate bid to escape, attempted to wrestle a soldier’s rifle during the search operation. The swift response of the troops thwarted the move, and the militia was neutralised instantly. His remains have since been deposited in the morgue.
Troops reaffirmed their resolve to maintain relentless pressure on criminal elements across the Joint Operations Area until peace and security are fully restored in Plateau State.
