In a bold message to criminal elements threatening national peace, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has declared that the Nigeria Police Force is not retreating in the face of insecurity but is instead reinforcing and ready to respond with strategy and speed.
Speaking on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, during the commissioning ceremony of newly procured operational assets at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP delivered a strong charge to those behind rising violence across the country.
“To those who threaten the peace of this country, our message is simple: we are coming for you strategically, swiftly, and without hesitation,” Egbetokun warned. “These assets are not just machines they are declarations of purpose.”
He described the event as more than a ceremonial commissioning but a strategic declaration of the Force’s readiness to tackle Nigeria’s evolving security challenges head-on.
The Inspector-General unveiled forty (40) Panthera Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), three (3) MRAP APCs, four (4) Sino Trucks Anti-Riot Water Cannons, and three (3) Anti-Riot Deployment Barriers assets he said would be deployed across all states, including the Federal Capital Territory.
“This agenda is not aspirational it is operational,” he stated, emphasizing the police’s commitment to building a technology-driven, intelligence-led, and service-oriented force, capable of addressing 21st-century policing complexities.
He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership and support, describing it as the driving force behind the police reform and repositioning agenda.
The IGP also called on police officers to use the newly acquired tools with discipline, strategic thinking, and patriotic precision, while assuring that personnel safety and efficiency remain at the core of the Force’s vision.
