In a powerful show of compassion and commitment to the welfare of its personnel, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ajao S. Adewale, on Tuesday presented welfare cheques amounting to ₦37,388,829.25 to the families of 39 police officers who paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.
The disbursement, made on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, was part of entitlements under the Nigeria Police Force Welfare Insurance Scheme (IGPFW), Group Life Assurance (GLA), and Group Personal Accident (GPA) insurance covers.
While addressing attendees, CP Ajao reiterated the IGP’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of police personnel, describing the gesture as both symbolic and necessary. “These cheques represent more than financial support. They are a symbol of our respect, remembrance, and solidarity with the families of our fallen heroes,” CP Ajao stated.
He emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in building a welfare system that is not only compassionate but also morale-boosting across all ranks.
The solemn event was witnessed by senior officers of the Command, insurance representatives, and family members of the deceased officers.
The FCT Police Command reaffirmed its pledge to honour the sacrifices of fallen officers and support their families, ensuring that their contributions to national security are never forgotten.
