IGP Commends Military for Defending Nation’s Territorial Integrity, Contributions to National Peace

The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has commended the critical roles the military plays in defending the territorial integrity, protection of its citizens and its contribution to National Peace and security.

IGP Egbetokun gave the commendation at the gathering of Military Chiefs who matter in Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).

The chiefs met in Abuja to discuss way forward to curb insecurity in the region.

The meeting, which commenced at around 10.A.M  today, had Military Chiefs of all the ECOWAS states.

The Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS) and Chairman ECOWAS CDS Committe, General Christopher Gwabin Musa is the host of the 43rd edition of the ordinary meeting of the ECOWAS Committe of the Chiefs of Defence staff.

According to Egbetokun, “as the chief of police in Nigeria, we recognize the critical roles that our defense forces play in maintaining peace security and strategy of our region and this conference, no doubt, represents a technical opportunity for us to come together share experiences, to address the complex security challenges.

“As we gather here today, we do so in the spirit of cooperation and shared commitments to the peace and stability of our nation.” He said

He hinted that concerted steps to enhance regional security, counter transnational threats, and promote defence cooperation will, no doubt, yield a positive outcome for Committee members.
