Army rescues four kidnap victim in Delta

Soldiers from the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Asaba has rescued four kidnapped victims from a forest in Ugbolu community, Oshimili South local government area of Delta State.

Major Emmanuel Onoja, the Brigade’ Assistant Director of Public Relations made this known in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday in Asaba.

He said the rescue operation which took place on Monday, December 9, 2024, followed reliable intelligence gathering regarding the activities of suspected kidnappers in the area.

“On Monday, December 9, 2024, the brave troops of the 63 Brigade, Nigeria Army, Asaba conducted a successful raid on the kidnappers’ hideout at a forest in Ugbolu community.T

“The swift action of the troops led to the rescue of the four victims, who had been held captive by some hoodlums.

“During the operation, the troops engaged the kidnappers in a fierce gun battle, overpowering them and forcing them to abandon their captives as they fled into the dense forest”, Onoja said.

According to him, all the four victims were rescued unharmed.

He said the rescued victims are currently in a secure location, where they are receiving the necessary care and support.

The Brigade’ spokesperson further disclosed that troops from the Bridlgade have launched a manhunt to fish out the fleeing kidnappers.

He enjoined the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to security agencies in their joint efforts to eliminate all forms of criminality from the state.
