The Catholic Bishop of Issele-Uku Diocese, Most Rev. (Dr.) Michael Elue has charged catholic priests to live an exemplary life in the service of God.
The clergy gave the charge on Saturday at the priestly ordination of five new priests held at St. Paul Catholic Cathedral, Issele-Uku, Aniocha North LGA of Delta.
He said that as servants of God, called into the service of His holy name, priests should imbibe the virtues of humility, selflessness and love for humanity.
“As priests, this five young men will forever be changed as their hearts become merged with the heart of Jesus.
“I want to admonish you to live an examplary life of service to God and mankind that would attract the people of the world to the body of God.
“Today, our Lord has decided to increase the workforce in his vineyard and it is a call to service for you.
“As you pick up the mantle of priesthood, let our life be to the glorification of God and a beacon of service to the people”, Elue said.
The Biship noted that it is with God’s infinite mercy that the church have gathered to witness the celebration of a call to service for the new priests.
He thanked the parents, families and friends of the new priests for the investments they made in the priests over the years of their training.
The Bishop reminded the new priests to ensure they attend to the concerns of Christ Jesus before their personal concern and to do all things with profond joy and love.
According to Elue, the ordination of the five priests, brings the total number of priests under the Issele-Uku Diocese to 248.
Our corresoondent reports that the five newly ordained priests include, Rev. Basil Obi, Rev. Peter Irabor and Rev. Paschal Odu.
Others are Rev. Michael Osimobi and Rev. Camillus Onyema.
