The executive Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Uba Sani, has appealed for increased security support to the state.
He made the plea when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Defence Staff ( CDS), Major General Christopher Gwabin Musa at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
In his remarks during the brief meeting, the Governor lauded the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) for their immense support to the state, while calling for more support to boost security in Kaduna and environs.
Governor Sani noted that Kaduna state is the heart of Northern Nigeria, which needs relative peace and harmony to strive.
He added that the state was willing to support the AFN with local intelligence and other necessary assistance to enable it discharge its constitutional responsibilities unhindered.
The CDS in his response, lauded the Governor as the first to visit, following his appointment.
Major General Musa assured the governor of the AFN commitment to supporting all parts of Nigeria, especially Kaduna State to combat insecurity.
According to the Defence Chief, the AFN is looking at reviewing its operational modalities with the view to enhancing capabilities for a better result.
He added that kinetic and non-kinetic approach to operations will be strenghtened to boost the fight against criminality in the country.
Major General Musa also stressed the need for youths engagement in meaningful activities in order to reduce crime. In this regard, he called on the media to always promote love and unity in their reports.
The CDS however, noted that one of the challenges facing the Military in the discharge of its duties, is the administrative bottle-necks involved in the dispensation of justice in cases involving criminals handed over to the civil authority for prosecution.
