The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ughelli North Local Government Chapter, has congratulated the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewori, on his Supreme Court triumph, describing the ruling as victory for all Deltans.

The party also passed a vote of confidence on the governor, saying he has impacted so much on the Local Government in terms of projects and appointments.

Moving the vote of confidence during an enlarged meeting of Elders, Leaders and Stakeholders of the party, held at the Agbarho residence of the Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Hon. Onoriode Agofure, on Sunday, former Secretary to the Delta State Government, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, thanked the state governor for appointing Ughelli North sons and daughters into key offices in his administration.

The motion for the vote of confidence was seconded by the Chairman, Delta State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Samuel Mariere.

Earlier in his welcome address, the LGA party Chairman, Mr. Kesiena Nomuoja said the meeting was aimed at strengthening and repositioning the party for victory ahead of the forthcoming local government and future elections.

On the Local Government elections, the party Chairman noted that the number of aspirants vying for the position from the party was worrisome and stressed the need for the party and it’s leaders to intervene before it leads to disunity amongst vested interests.

He said, “this is a stakeholders meeting. Party leaders and those that pilot its affairs are just servant leaders. The essence of calling this meeting is for all of us to brainstorm and come out with the best decision on how to approach this matter.”

Speaking further, Nomoja disclosed that the party had already set up a committee to screen and possibly narrow the number of chairmanship aspirants, adding that report of the committee was ready.

However, after much deliberation on the issue, the party resolved to keep in view the report of the committee, pending further decisions from the leadership of the party at the state and its leader, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
