Troops arrest notorious gunrunners, recover 5,316 Rounds of ammunition

The troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in North Central have arrested five notorious gun runners in Bayamemi, Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau Staten.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama, a competent security information source that the five suspected gunrunners were arrested on September 17, during a daring overnight operation, which was based on credible intelligence.

The sources said that items recovered from the suspects included;  AK-47 Rifles, one FN Rifle, 14 AK-47 Magazines, one FN Magazine, 5,316 Rounds of 7.62mm (Special) Ammunition 98 Rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) Ammunition and 43 Rounds of 9.5mm Ammunition among other items.

The sources said that the suspects, along with the recovered arms and ammunition, are currently in military custody for interrogation.

This development comes on the heels of previous successes by Operation Safe Haven, including the arrest of a wanted terrorist gunrunner in the North Central region of Plateau State.
