Delta State Commissioner for Finance, Sir Fidelis Tilije, over the weekend, donated four million naira to internally displaced persons (IDPs) at Kwale, in order to mitigate the effect of the flood on them.

While addressing the victims, Sir Tilije urged the camp managers to take the provision of social amenities, such as potable water, environmental sanitation and access to health facilities seriously, stressing that none should lack basic necessities in the camp.

The Finance Commissioner stated that the devastating effect of this year’s flood, needed urgent attention and should not be handled with kid’s glove, and urged leaders both in government and private sector to lend their support.

Tilije encouraged the victims to keep hope alive, saying that their predicament was not the end of the world, and that there were others with same experience but could not survive it.

In the entourage of the commissioner during the visit to the internally displaced persons’ camp in Kwale, were the Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Festus Ochonogor; and Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr Kingsley Ashibogwu, amongst others.
