A driver, Jonathan Marcus who allegedly murdered Octoganarian couple, Mr Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and his wife, Abiodun Ezekiel, 79 has been arrested by operatives of FCT command.
The duo were killed in the pool of their blood at their Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja home on April 1s, 2024.
Since the dastardly act, detectives had launched a manhunt for the suspect, who was their driver. He had ran away after the act. Marcus was eventually tracked by ‘decoy’ operatives to his hideout in Obajana, Kogi State.
Parading the suspect, Commissioner of Police FCT Command, CP Benneth Igweh said, “following the report of the gruesome murder of an elderly couple by name; Adebola Ezekiel, 80 years and his wife Abiodun Ezekiel, 79 years in their residence in Apo legislative quarters, on April 1, 2024, at around 11:00 PM, the operatives of the command in response commenced an immediate discreet investigation.
“The investigation led to the arrest of one Jonathan Marcus, a former driver to the deceased couple. He was trailed and arrested in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi State, after committing the grievous crime.
“The suspect freely confessed to have gained access to the house on the same date, slit the deceased throat and made away with the phones and ATM cards of the couples. Suspect will be charged to court soon.”
Relatedly, on April 11, 2024, following a tip off, police operatives from Mabushi Division arrested two suspects, Sadiya Abubakar and Mohammed Jibrin while they were discreetly conveying the body of one Bilkisu Mohammed.
The deceased had earlier visited the house of her supposed boyfriend, one Abbas Ramalan who eventually travelled to Kano and left her in the care of the female suspect.
According to CP Igweh, “The deceased allegedly fell ill and was given non-prescribed drugs by Mohammed Jibrin which led to her death. Both suspects are in custody undergoing interrogations and will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.”
