The Group Managing Director of Skyewise Group, Dr. Elvis Abuyere has congratulated the governor-elect of Edo State, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, commending his dedication and resilience that eventually gave him victory at the polls.
In a result released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after the Sept 21 governorship election in Edo, Sen. Okpebholo, 54, of All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 291,667 votes to defeat Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 247,274 votes at the election.
“Monday Okpebholo of APC, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned elected,” INEC’s Returning Officer for the poll, Faruk Kuta, said.
In a congratulatory message shortly after the declaration of Sen. Okpebholo as the incoming governor of Edo, Dr. Abuyere, an Ogenebode-born renowned banker and businessman said the victory is a confirmation of confidence and trust the people of Edo repose in him.
“Your resilience and dedication have brought you this remarkable victory”, Dr. Abuyere noted.
The philanthropist also expressed hope that the leadership of Okpebholo as the new helmsman in Edo will herald a new era of progress for the state.
He said, “I trust that the challenges ahead will yield to your vision, and that we will witness a transformation in our economy, empowerment of our youth, and the establishment of good governance. Most importantly, I look forward to a period of inclusive collaboration under your guidance.”
Dr. Abuyere therefore prayed God to grant the incoming governor the wisdom, strength, and resilience to navigate the road ahead, praying that his administration will leave a legacy of positive change and lasting success in Edo.
