The Nigeria Police Force has debunked claims by Mr. Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, alleging his arrest by the police. In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the police clarified that Mr. Magaji was not arrested but invited for questioning over a petition filed against him.
According to the statement, the petition was received by the Inspector-General of Police Monitoring Unit on Friday, January 17, 2025. The invitation extended to Mr. Magaji was described as part of the standard investigative procedure to address the matter.
The police emphasized that, as a public servant, Mr. Magaji is expected to cooperate with the authorities rather than resort to creating undue media attention.
The police further dismissed any claims suggesting Mr. Magaji’s arrest as false and urged the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation that could lead to unnecessary panic or confusion.
“The Force remains committed to upholding the rule of law and adhering to due process in all investigations,” the statement read.
