It was pomp and ceremony on Thursday, March 5, 2020 for students of Madonna School For Children With Special Needs, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area, as the Chairman of Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission, Chief Barr. Josephine Ada Kachikwu marked her 71st Birthday anniversary with the children at the premises of the school.

Chief Kachikwu who was accompanied to the school for the celebration by members and management of the State House of Assembly Service Commission was warmly received by management, staff and students of the school who described her as their mother.

The Parish Priest of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Agbor, Fr. Stephen Chukwuma accompanied Chief Kachikwu on the charity visit and led the prayer session where he prayed for good health and God’s sustenance for Kachikwu, as she marks her 71st birthday anniversary.

Fr. Chukwuma who is also Lawyer also offered prayers for the children as well as the management and staff of the school.

In her brief remark at the event, Chief Ada Kachikwu who has made it a yearly rite celebrating her birthday with the students of the school, regretted that she could not visit them due to the fact that her birthday, March 5, coincided with the exigencies of the 2019 electioneering campaigns, which culminated in the March 9 governorship election, saying that the actual celebration for last year had to be shifted to the Month of December.

She also revealed that even in the month of December, she could not celebrate with them since the children were already on holidays.

“ I said today being another opportunity; I will not forget these wonderful children of mine here. I have already sent things down to them, but I said no, I must come and cut this cake with them. It gives me great joy doing it with them. So am here to celebrate you while you celebrate me as your grandmother,” Chief Kachikwu stated.

She said that her coming was to appreciate and praise God Almighty on behalf of the Children and added that God who has been kind to her has also continued to be kind to the children.

“I know that from this group of children I have here, in future we shall have leaders among them, we shall have legislators, we shall have governors, because God has created them to be special and intelligent Children. Our God is a good God who does not in any way make mistakes. He has reason for them being where they are today and he has the reason why they are still alive and the way they are,” She admonished and prayed that God in his infinite mercy will take the children to great heights in life to the glory of God and to the benefit of humanity.

She commended their parents for their compassion and said that she will continue to appreciate and praise God for their lives, even as she encouraged them not to relent in their faith in God, affirming that there is always hope in God.

“And may the Good Lord bless the Reverend Sisters and all the staff that take care of the children. It is not by any means an easy task, but God has made it easy for them to do what they are doing. God and His blessing will never depart from you people,” she also prayed, while promising to celebrate the Children and the School the more during the Annual thanksgiving of St Peters Catholic Church, Onicha-Ugbo later this year.

The children expressed their joy through rendition of special songs and the presentation of a beautiful custom made birthday card to Chief Barr. Ada Kachikwu who sang and danced with them to the glory of God.

Chief Ada Josephine Kachikwu was later joined by the children and members of the Delta State House of Assembly Service Commission in the cutting of her birthday cake.

The mother of popular Root TV boss, Chukwudumebi Kachikwu joined the septuagenarian club last year with a lavish party at Late Justice Kachikwu’s country home.
