Police uncover Ak-47 in bag of Garri, arrests woman courier

A 30-years old lady, Hajia Hauwa Yusuf has been arrested by crack detectives attached to police Special Tactical Squad (STS) in Abuja over AK-47 gun and four Magazines which she hid in a bag of Garri.
The suspect was nabbed following intelligence. Although, she denied knowledge of the bag’s content, detectives disclosed she is a gun courier for bandits in Katsina State.
Hajia Yusuf is now in police net for criminal conspiracy and illegal possession of prohibited Firearm. She was paraded alongside other suspects today by the spokesman of the Nigeria Police, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi.
According to Adejobi, “On August 14, 2024, acting on technical Intelligence, operatives of FID-STS intercepted one Hauwa Yusuf, 30, of Dutsin-Ma LGA of Katsina State.
“The suspect was arrested while in transit from Lafia Nasarawa State to Katsina State, inside a Sienna Bus along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. A search was conducted and One AK-47 Rifle without breach Number and Four AK magazines concealed inside a white Sack of Garri were recovered from the suspect.
“During the interrogation the Suspect confessed that it was One Aminu Basullube, a notorious Bandit terrorizing Katsina State general axis who sent her to take delivery of the arms in Danum madam Camp, Katsina State.”
Yusuf denied knowledge of the gun in Garri Sack. She noted that she was paid N130,000 to prosecute the job.
Speaking further at the parade, Adejobi noted that today is yet another day that serves as a testimonial of the endless and relentless efforts of the Nigeria Police Force in the pursuit of justice and apprehension of criminals connected to several forms of crime and the general safety of the country.
“As we continue to strengthen our investigative capabilities and collaborate with our law enforcement partners, we remain steadfast in our mission to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of every citizen.
“We are confident that the aggregate of our efforts towards combating crimes and criminality, will, in no time, herald a more secure and peaceful Nigeria.”
