Delta State Police Command special squad, yesterday, killed 27-year-old suspected armed robber in a gun duel with the police at a notorious criminal hideout in Oghior community, Udu Local Government Area of the state.
The police special squad also arrested 10 suspects during the operation that lasted several hours.
The command’s Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edafe Bright, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect, one Igah Aminu resident of Sadisco area in Warri, died as a result of gunshot injury he sustained during the gun battle.
Edafe gave the names of the arrested suspects as Henry Ogori 25; Kennedy Akpotu 19; Promise Ophiomo 24; Daniel Believe, 19; Daniel Sele, 25; Paul Zion, 25; Philip Choice, 26; Joshua Ogunamen, 21; Johnson Opiomo, 22 and Joshua Godswill, 24.
The suspects, all male, confessed to the crime while efforts were being made to arrest the fleeing suspects who escaped with bullet injuries, he said
According to the police spokesman, two English Beretta pistols, three rounds of live 9mm caliber of ammunition and six mobile phones were recovered from the hoodlums.
Edafe also said two suspected cultists, Omoyevwe Emmanuel, 29 and Marcus Michael, 24, both of Usienfurun community, were arrested in connection with the killing of 29-year-old Ebeni Jelekun, who hailed from Ekakpmre and allegedly belonged to a cult group.
