London trained Petroleum Management czar, and immediate past Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Local Content Policy and Development, Sir Laurence Izegbu has been engaged as Consultant to the Delta State Local Content Agency prior to the appointment of Director General by the Governor of Delta.
A letter signed by the Acting Director General of the Agency, Ogbogu S.A, noted that his appointment was as a result of careful review of his qualification, experience and innovations he introduced during his tenure as SSA.
The letter further stated that Izegbu’s new role as a consultant would involve his expertise in the area of compliance, monitoring and conflict resolution.
He would henceforth furnish the agency with advise, insights and recommendation to assist in various projects initiatives. He would also ensure companies in Delta State adhere to state content policy, values and ethical standards.
The primary task of the Local Content Agency is to ensure that oil-producing and servicing companies operating in Delta State maintain an indigenous workforce of at least 70%, while also utilizing indigenous contractors and local raw materials for their processing.
Izegbu was given the elevation following his sterling performance while he was a Senior Special Assistant to the former governor.
Also, as an SSA to Governor Okowa on Local Content Policy, he had engaged Daewoo Engineering on the need to engage Delta indigenous skilled workers in its quick fix project, a move that was seen as unprecedented and service-driven.
His advocacy to oil companies for the use of teeming Delta skilled youths in prosecuting skilled labour is also unmatched.
The technocrat also introduced Online portal to monitor the activities of oil companies. He also brought his skill in Conflict resolution to bear as he ensured truce between Host communities and oil companies. He also initiated Public/Private partnership, which has tendency of yield of revenue to the agency.
Hon Izegbu, a politician and prolific social commentator and writer, also has qualifications in Strategic Management and analytical writing. He brings to this position his wealth of experience in the area of strategy deployment and management.
Prior to his delving into public service, he was a senior managing partner with Cil Consulting, a company with specialty in Advanced Writing, proof reading and training.
He is also a grassroots mobiliser for his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
