Okowa’s aide urges Daewoo Engineering to engage Delta skilled workers in Warri Refinery quick fix project valued at $500million

Following the rehabilitation project of Warri Refinery, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Local Content Policy and development Mr. Laurence Chukwudi Izegbu has urged the contractors, DAEWOO Engineering & Construction Company to hire local workforce in the state.
The senior aide to Governor Okowa wrote to the head of DAEWOO E&C Nigeria Mr. JEONG TAE-WON
Okowa’s aide in his letter made available to newsmen charged the DAEWOO’s scribe to show transparency and ensure they engage Local manpower and indigenous contractors across the value chain.

Izegbu cited that Delta State has contributed immensely to the center and has generated revenues from crude oil production and sales for the federal government.
Okowa’s aide said: “You must ensure that you engage indigenous skilled workers and Local contractors from Delta State throughout the period of this contract.
“It is also a component of Delta State local content law for you to utilize local raw materials, anything short of this would be frowned upon”
Izegbu has demonstrated passion to drive Governor Okowa’s vision in his bid towards empowering Delta youths since assumption of office.
Izegbu strongly believes that the state’s Local Content Policy has the potential to stimulate broad-based economic development, which is necessary to alleviate poverty, achieve prosperity and ensure sustainable economic and social outcomes in Delta.
