Content creators and social media influencers have been charged to use their creative ingenuity to carve a positive image for Delta State and the nation at large.
A Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Miss Henrietta Enwereaku, gave the charge at the maiden edition of Delta Creators and Influencers Hangout held at the Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba on Friday.
Miss Enwereaku said the gathering was to x-ray the importance of content in the social media space and ways it could be developed to carve a positive image for Delta State and Nigeria at large.
She thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for giving priority to the programme aimed at helping youths to excel in the creative industry, even as she assured that her office will give youths opportunity to get to the pinnacle of their careers in content creation.
In her goodwill message, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services and Girl Child Development, Miss Orode Uduaghan said with positive content, the erroneous impression about the state would be corrected and urged the organisers to sustain the programme.
In separate keynote addresses, Dr. Ella Ezeadilieje and Mr. Onye Ubanatu who are social media influencers, noted that there was need for content creators to be truthful, creative, consistent and visionary.
The duo of Ezeadilieje and Ubanatu harped on the need for content creators to use their works to build enduring legacies, pointing out that using the social media to create wrong images was counter productive, just as they advised upcoming content creators to uphold objectivity and selflessness in passing their messages.
Other speakers at the event said there was need for comedians and content creators to synergise in campaigning against wrong use of the social media to distort facts.
They opined that the time was ripe for participants to do skits and comedies that would promote the image of the state, stressing that Delta remained one of the best in creativity, education, sports, entertainment and tourism.
There was, also, a panel discussion where the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Bright Edafe; ace comedian, Frank De Don and others spoke on the importance of social media in awareness creation and education of global audience.
