Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Friday, urged couples to walk with God in their union so as to fulfill God’s plan for creating marriage.
Governor Oborevwori made the call in his remarks at the wedding of Anita and Major Bulus Shunah held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Jesse, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state.
The ceremony also has in attendance, immediate past Governor of the State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Kingsley Esiso, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo, former member House of Representives Hon. Halims Agoda, Hon. James Augoye, members of the State Executive Council, among other dignitaries.
The bride, Anita, is daughter of Chief John Nani, Chairman, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Oborevwori said: “I am very happy to be here today to be a part of this wedding ceremony. You have listened to message from the Bishop that you should not walk alone, that you should work with God and with one another.
“We are happy to be here and you can see that the who is who in the state are here because of our brother, the father of the bride, Chief John Nani who is very loved and highly respected by the people here.
“He is a good man and very well respected in Idjerhe Kingdom and we are happy to join him today as his daughter marries her hearthrob.”
Earlier in his sermon titled, “Walk with God and one another in all you do”, Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Oleh, Rt. Rev’d John Aruakpor, charged the couple to walk with God and one another to enable them succeed and flourish in their marriage.
Quoting from Psalm 127, Bishop Aruakpor urged the couple to trust in God to enable them fulfil God’s purpose for establishing marriage.
Bishop Aruakpor commended Governor Oborevwori and his predecessor, Senator Okowa for upholding God’s standard for leadership in Delta State.
He lauded Governor Oborevwori for continuing diligently with existing projects while embarking on new ones across the state, saying, “we have had a taste of your leadership and it is going to be great and good for all Deltans.”
