The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested a certain Joshua Ojobo, who has been referred to as ‘Idoma Hishpuppi’ for allegedly impersonating the Chairman of the EFCC, Mr Ola Olukoyede in a $1 million deal.
The alleged fraudster, Ojobo was arrested with three others at Gimbiya Street, Garki, Abuja, on Wednesday, August 28,2024.
According to a statement from the EFCC, Ojobo and his friends contacted a former Managing Director of the Nigeria Port Authority, NPA, Mr. Mohammed Bello-Koko claiming his indictment in some phony investigative activities of the EFCC during his tenure as the MD of NPA.
They alleged that the EFCC chairman was ready to give him a soft landing for $1million or risk being arrested and prosecuted.
Luck however ran out of Ojobo and his gang as the moves of the alleged fraudster got to operatives of the Commission.
The anti-graft agency then deployed it’s operatives to play along with the alleged fraudsters.
They were successfully arrested and are currently in custody of the Commission, to be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
Ojobo, who hails from Benue State, before his arrest was reputed for posting photos and videos of his expensive, with no one able to link him to any legal or verifiable source of livelihood to warrant his expensive lifestyle.
It is also alleged that he is in the business of defrauding people with his wife, who warehouses the proceeds for the family and claims to be the daughter of Senator Suswam.
She sells small chops but buys expensive jewelleries on weekly basis.
One of his victims said Joshua had once passed as the son of Governor Bala Mohammed to sell a property worth 200 Million Naira to her which later turned out to be fake.
